Morgan Roberts’ early strike was enough to see Saints through in a game of few chances with Danny Lewis was rarely called into action.
Cosmas Matwasa’s header from a corner on 14 minutes was finished smartly by Roberts for his second goal of the season. Gaz Dean had come close to opening the scoring, his side footed shot blocked, in a spell of pressure on James Montgomery’s goal.

Spennymoor came close to levelling the scores with Tyler Lyttle’s last ditch header off the line and Will Harris’ long range effort hitting the post.
The second half saw few chances at either end as Saints saw out the win to record three successive wins for the first time this season and the double over Spennymoor on the first day in post for new Moors’ manager Graeme Lee.

“We have picked up a bit of momentum which we brought into the game today and produced a good performance and earned the three points,” Gavin Cowan said. “It was a well worked and well taken goals. The lads showed a hunger and a desire to get the goal. We felt in control and they did not really have a chance on goal in the second half so there was no need to change things. We were resolute and had our game plan and it came off.”
