Peterborough Sports is in its third season in National League North. On our last visit to the Lincoln Road home of The Turbines Saints were winners by 3-0 last season in late August sunshine with goals from Tyler Lyttle, Zak Lilly and George Carline.
Gavin Cowan’s side returned from an impressive away performance at Spennymoor on Bank Holiday Monday to back to back home games, both of which ended in disappointing manner with home defeats after tight, hard fought encounters. Captain Gaz Dean was missing from Tuesday night’s game against Chorley but is available again for selection for Saturday.
Peterborough Sports sit level with Saints in the early league table on seven points having played one game fewer. In the two home games so far The Turbines beat Buxton but lost against Chorley.
Speaking after Tuesday’s game Gavin Cowan looked ahead to Saturday’s game: “We had a few walking wounded out there tonight but we are working with a small squad, that was our decision, that is on us. There are no excuses. This is football. We are at a bit of a crossroads and need to step forward now and get back at it. We will prepare well for Saturday and hopefully be bringing three points home and getting back on the road we know we should be on.”
