NEXT UP: HARTLEPOOL UNITED V BRACKLEY TOWN - EMIRATES FA CUP 4TH QUALIFYING ROUND

Chris Tymon6 Oct 2024 - 15:00

The Saints travel to Hartlepool next in the FA Cup.

Following wins at Truro City and at home against Ramsgate we travel to National League Hartlepool United for the 4th qualifying round tie, almost exactly 5 years to the day after our solitary previous meeting, another 4th qualifying round FA Cup tie.
On that occasion Hartlepool won 1-0 and went on to reach the 3rd round proper bowing out to Oxford United.

Since that game Hartlepool returned to the EFL 2 before relegation back to the National League for the 2023-24 season.

This season sees Darren Sarll’s side in 15th place with 4 wins to date including Saturday’s home win over Sutton United. The 4-3 win included a hat-trick for striker Manny Dieseruvwe.

After a five game winning run Saints drew 0-0 at Southport on Saturday to sit 12th in National League North but head to Hartlepool with nothing to lose. In the words of manager Gavin Cowan it is a great opportunity to be tested against higher level opposition. “It’s a massive club playing at a high level but we will prepare as we always do and we will go there to enjoy the day but to enjoy it by being really competitive. If we put in the performance we are capable of we can be a handful for anybody.”

If you can’t get to the game live commentary will be on BBC Radio Oxford with a live Twitter feed from the club.
