Following Friday’s draw at Gloucester City Saints still have it all to do to secure a play-off place and the benefits of home advantage by finishing high enough. Tamworth are champions-elect, having been out front for so long, they need only a point from their final four games to seal the title, with only Chorley still able to catch them through some fantastical turnaround.
Brackley’s performance at Gloucester was below par, a fact acknowledged by Gavin Cowan who said, “It is a huge game on Monday when Tamworth come. We are focused on what we are doing. They have had an extraordinary season but we have our own agenda. We need to be ready and to prepare as we normally would.”
Meanwhile Tamworth recorded another win and clean sheet in their Good Friday game, beating already relegated Bishop’s Stortford comfortably.
The Lambs are on the verge of a return to the top level of non-league football for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
When the sides met at Tamworth’s The Lamb Ground in November a 93rd minute header from Liam Dolman separated the sides.
A large crowd is expected on Bank Holiday Monday with both sides intent on taking the points.
