MATCH PREVIEW
Saturday’s 3pm kickoff will be the first time Brackley have ever played at Meadow Park. The Wood currently sit in the National League playoff places and have started the season better than they ever could have imagined. In November, Luke Garrard’s men would visit St James Park, coming away with 3pts on top of a dominant performance.
Having already played Boreham Wood this season, Saints fans will expect to see Meticulously planned but free flowing football at Meadow Park. Regardless of previous results, Gavin Cowan’s men will look to make wrongs to right after a disappointing run of games in the National League. Despite worthy performances, decisions and points have not fallen in favour of the Saints.
Key Players:
Abdul Abdulmalik is the man of the moment for The Wood right now. A stalwart in the National League South last season, the winger has taken the step up by the scruff of neck. With 7 goals in all competitions this season, his athleticism and raw power is why so many teams across England are vowing for his signature.
Leading from the front is Matt Rush, who also scored against the Saints in November. Playing down the middle or right, Rush has 15 goals to his name and signifies the type of threat he provides. Last time out, Rush would break the deadlock on the stroke of half time, with a cooly taken finish into the bottom left corner. The striker also scored in both of The Wood’s 3-0 demolition’s of Newport County and Crawley Town in the FA Cup.
The Man in Charge:
Luke Garrard has been at the helm of Boreham Wood for over 10 years, having managed over 500 games across 2 spells, he has cemented himself as a modern-day legend at Boreham Wood. Achieving National League playoffs 3 times and winning the National League South playoffs twice (Once as a player, once as Manager)
As a player, Garrard made over 200 appearances for AFC Wimbledon and Boreham Wood. He would be key in the early years of the Wombles revival.
