Roger Johnson’s side will travel in good spirits after the first back-to-back wins in 13 games following last Tuesday’s win at Kidderminster Harriers and Saturday’s home win over Bradford (PA). Sam Smart and Callum Stead scored in both games with Levi Amantchi and Martin Woods on the score-sheet at SJP versus Park Avenue.
Successive wins have tightened things at the top of National League North but Johnson knows the necessity of putting together a winning run now after so many drawn games through January.
“It is a tough division with successive away trips now to Boston and then Kettering,” Johnson said after Saturday’s win. “There is no rest for anyone. But we are up for it. We have the squad and some depth so I can take key players off because I have quality on the bench. You have to have one eye on the up-and-coming fixtures. We are resting players when they need that and those boys who come in and get their chance and taking it.”
When Brackley and Boston met in late October Adam Rooney’s goal clinched the win.
The Pilgrims come into the game in 22nd place in the table and having conceded 54 goals in their 31 games, only AFC Telford have conceded more. But home form is strong with five wins from the last nine games at The Jakemans Community Stadium while form on the road has proved more challenging with seven successive defeats.
