The 24-year-old from Hampshire began his career playing for various local clubs before earning a move to Portsmouth, where he featured in their community development team.
The winger went on to join Basingstoke where he scored 20 goals in 41 appearances during the 2017/18 season which put him in the spotlight, leading to trials with Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, and Chelsea.
In 2019, Smart made the move to Eastleigh where he played over 100 games for the south coast side in all competitions. Last season he also had a short loan spell at Havant & Waterlooville, making four appearances in the National League South, before returning to the Eastleigh first team, he netted twice last season as the Spitfires finished 19th.
At the start of this season, Sam joined FC Halifax Town following his release from Eastleigh, with the attacking midfielder making 6 appearances for the Shaymen, he also had a month's loan at Vanarama National League side Dagenham & Redbridge, where he made three appearances.
