NEW SIGNING | I-Lani Edwards Joins The Saints

Chris Tymon

Brackley Town are delighted to announce the permanent signing of I-Lani Edwards following a successful trial period with the club.

Edwards joins the Saints following his release from Aston Villa this summer, having spent pre-season with Andy Whing’s squad and impressed during his time with the club.

A product of the Aston Villa academy, Edwards joined the Premier League club at the age of 10 and progressed through the youth ranks before signing a scholarship in 2022.

He signed his first professional contract with Villa two years later and went on to feature at Premier League 2 level, while also gaining experience in the Vertu Trophy.

Last season saw Edwards take his first steps into senior football, gaining valuable National League North experience during loan spells with Hereford and Leamington.

An attack-minded player capable of operating in midfield or on either wing, Edwards now makes the permanent move to St James Park after impressing Andy Whing and his coaching staff during his trial period.

Manager Andy Whing said:
"It’s great to have I-Lani join us as he’s someone with a lot of potential as we’ve seen throughout pre season. He’s still got a lot to learn but if he carries on as he has done in the last few weeks he can be a really big player for us. Again I-Lani can play in multiple positions and it’s up to him now to try and nail down one of those. Welcome I-Lani"

Speaking after completing his move to the Saints, I-Lani said:
“I’m an attack-minded player who can play on either wing or in midfield. I like carrying the ball forward, bringing some flair and trying things on the pitch.

“I already know the National League North from my time with Hereford and Leamington, and I’m looking forward to showing the fans what I can do. Our ambition has to be promotion — I think everyone in the group believes we can achieve it.”

Edwards becomes another permanent addition to Andy Whing’s new-look squad ahead of the start of the 2026/27 National League North season.

The registration of I-Lani Edwards is subject to the approval of the National League and The Football Association.

Welcome to Brackley I-Lani!
