NEW SIGNING | DJ Sturridge Joins The Saints

Chris Tymon

Brackley Town Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker DJ Sturridge ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 24-year-old centre-forward arrives at St James Park from Oxford City, adding further pace and attacking quality to Andy Whing's squad ahead of the new season.

A product of Aston Villa's academy, Sturridge progressed through the youth ranks at Villa Park, where he impressed at Under-21 level before departing in 2023.

Following his release, the pacey forward gained valuable senior experience with Solihull Moors, Alvechurch and Banbury United before joining Farsley Celtic ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. After off-the-field issues at the Yorkshire club, he made the move to Hereford, where he played his part in the Bulls' push for the National League North play-offs.

Sturridge joined Oxford City last summer and now arrives at St James Park looking to continue his development with the Saints ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Manager Andy Whing said:
"It's great to have DJ with us. I was fortunate to work with him a few years ago at Solihull and he's a great lad who has come on leaps and bounds since then.

He's a forward with pace who wants to get in behind, but we were really impressed with his goal contributions towards the end of last season. He scored a variety of goals with different types of finishes, while his link-up play to create opportunities for his team-mates was also impressive.

He's another player on the up with loads more to give and improve. Welcome, DJ!"

Speaking after joining the Saints, Sturridge said:
"I'm an energetic player with plenty of pace. I like to run in behind, work hard for the team and, most importantly, score goals.

I had a good spell at Oxford City, played a lot of games and managed to score a few goals, which gave me plenty of confidence.

The ambition here is clear – to get Brackley straight back to where the club belongs. After speaking with Joe and the gaffer, it was an easy decision for me."

Sturridge becomes Andy Whing's eighth new addition of the summer as Brackley Town continues to build its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The transfer remains subject to National League and Football Association approval.
