Charlie Cooper becomes the Saints' first new addition of the summer as preparations continue for the next chapter at St James Park.
The 28-year-old midfielder arrives with extensive experience across the EFL, National League and National League North, having made more than 350 senior appearances during a career that has included spells with Birmingham City, Forest Green Rovers, Newport County, FC Halifax Town, Woking, Wealdstone, Oldham Athletic and Yeovil Town.
A former England youth international, Cooper was part of the Forest Green Rovers side that secured promotion to the Football League and brings leadership, experience and versatility to Andy Whing's squad.
Last season, Cooper spent time on loan with Kidderminster Harriers, helping the club secure promotion back to the National League. He scored Harriers' second goal in their 2-0 National League North Play-Off Final victory over South Shields, helping seal promotion at the end of a successful campaign.
Speaking after joining the Saints, Cooper said:
"Brackley stood out for me. After speaking to the gaffer, it was clear it was the perfect fit and I'm looking forward to getting started."
Manager Andy Whing added:
"I’m absolutely delighted that Charlie has signed for us. Having got promoted last season out of this league he’s a perfect fit for us and has that experience that we need. Charlie is a very good footballer but also very aggressive off the ball which is exactly what we want in there. He’s also had better offers elsewhere but it just shows that he’s brought in to our project which we’re really excited about."
Charlie Cooper becomes the first new signing as Brackley Town continue building the squad for the 2026/27 campaign and will officially join the Saints on the 1st July, subject to FA and National League approval.
