Welcome to St James Park for this home league game fixture and the visit of FC Halifax Town. We welcome Halifax and their players, officials and supporters.
I am writing following the postponement of Saturday’s game against Solihull Moors.
A pitch inspection on the morning of the game saw it called off with further rain forecast throughout the day. A new date will be arranged as soon as possible.
Our previous game was a first ever visit to Sutton United. It was an entertaining game and a good away point at their Gander Green Lane stadium. It was Gaz Dean’s first game in the dugout as interim manager following Gavin’s departure.
Gaz has been an outstanding player and captain at St James Park for many seasons and is approaching a club record number of appearances. He has previously stood in and seen the team through an interim period after a manager left and I am delighted that he agreed to do so again on this occasion. Gaz will do a great job and has the backing of everyone at the club.
Gavin’s departure was a shock and the club did not want him to leave. Gavin was good for Brackley Town and we can look back on a very successful period of time under his leadership of the first team. In that time we achieved Step 1 status for the first time, great success in the FA Cup and many memorable moments. The wider football club has also grown and become stronger during Gavin’s tenure.
The opportunity to manage at a higher level and at a club that holds a special place for him was an opportunity too great to turn down. While we are disappointed we also understand and wish Gavin only the best in his new role.
Our focus is fully on next steps for Brackley Town. The recruitment process for a new manager is underway and I look forward to keeping supporters informed of progress as soon as is possible. You will understand that confidentiality and a professional approach are vital in these matters until the appointment is done and contracts completed.
In the mean time please get behind Gaz and the team starting this evening as we face another tough test against a strong Halifax side.
Best wishes
Matt Wise.
Brackley Town Chairman
