Weekly club update:  Sat 20 March

With steady progress continuing on the clubhouse build, the name of the new clubhouse and events centre has been unveiled.  Chief Executive Janene Butters announced that the facility will be called The Venue – and more specifically, The Venue at Brackley Town Football Club.  It will provide a great facility for supporters on match-days and the wider community throughout the week and weekends for entertainment and private events.  Bookings are being taken for what promises quickly to become the premier “venue” in town.

The club is now advertising for a Manager for The Venue.  This offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to be involved from the very launch of The Venue. FOR MORE DETAILS SEE HERE

From 21 June The Venue will host a programme of launch events so watch this space for news of exciting and varied events.

With last week’s determination that the idea mooted of a mini-league of those National League North and National League South clubs wishing to participate would not be permitted to proceed, Kevin is beginning the task of building his squad for next season, planning pre-season preparations and agreeing a schedule of pre-season warm-up matches.  Details will be announced as soon as player signings and pre-season fixtures are confirmed.

Reflecting on the current situation Kevin said, “This is all any of us can do and that is to look ahead.  We will be looking to train once a week just to get the boys in and ensure that period of inactivity doesn’t end up being any longer than it needs to be.  We have things to iron out as far as contracts are concerned so everyone knows where they are going.  But it’s a long old while to not be playing or doing any work on the field.  Unfortunately it’s where we find ourselves.  Hopefully over the next couple of months we will have a start date and things will be clear so we can get back to some sort of normality.”

The news that sponsors Vanarama have committed to a further three year sponsorship deal for the National League has been widely welcomed.

Also in the news, you may have seen that former fans’ favourite, midfielder Eddie Odhiambo has been appointed as manager at Southern League, Division One South-West side North Leigh.  We will watch Eddie’s progress on the managerial ladder with interest once the new season gets underway.
