Kettering Town  3-0  Brackley Town     Senior Cup SF    4 Feb 2020

Poppies through to the final

Saints exited the Hillier Cup at the semi-final stage as Kettering’s Tre Mitford scored two goals on 66 and 68 minutes before Ben Milnes grabbed a third goal late on to kill off any chance of a come-back.

The first half was evenly contested with Brackley enjoying the better moments.  Carl Baker’s shot on the half hour was well saved by Poppies’ keeper Jack Bennett after a good run on the left by Luke Fairlamb before Lorrell Smith’s deflected effort was kept out by the cross-bar.

After the break, Danny Lewis saved well while at the other end a super move brought Connor Franklin into the action on the right before Smith shot over.  Then came the goal rush.

Kettering go on and will now meet Daventry Town in the final at Sixfields on 31 March after the men in purple beat Peterborough Sports in the other semi-final tie.

Brackley and Kettering will meet here again in three weeks’ time in a re-arranged league fixture
