There was an end of season, party-atmosphere in the sunshine for a match with little at stake and the game reflected this, entertaining without hitting the heights. With one eye on next Saturday’s play-off semi-final Brackley manager Kevin Wilkin made whole-sale changes to his starting line-up with Shep Murombedzi captain for the day on the occasion of his 150th appearance for the club while for Chester it was the final game in charge of the Blues for boss Steve Watson.
“It was a bit of a dead rubber but was played in a competitive manner,” Wilkin said. “It would have been nice to have won the game but the most important thing for us was that we got everyone through the game fit and well. It’s not easy when you make so many changes, you can’t expect everything just to drop into place. We had the better moments and just needed the goal to take the points.”
