Memories - 1940s Tea Dance
On Sunday 6th October the Saints Community Project joined forces with local Charity Happy at Home to organise a social event for the older generation in our local community. As part of this years Silver Sunday activities across the country.
We were so pleased to welcome over 60 senior members of our local community for a 1940s style tea dance in the Local Town Hall at the heart of the town. Entertained by the amazing Nice and Easy group.
It was a wonderful afternoon of fun, entertainment and laugher as well as some dancing. A huge thank you must go to the current mayor for spending the afternoon with us and embracing the spirit of the day. Our volunteers for all their hard work to ensure ran smoothly. All the donations of amazing raffle prizes , especially Tescos Brackley for their amazing packaged star hamper. Thank you.
Silver Sunday is a special day in the national calendar when everyone can come together to celebrate older people: a day in the nation’s hearts where older people feel valued and are given new opportunities to get out of the house, keep their minds and bodies active, learn new skills, make new friends and connect with the communities and generations around them
