We are pleased to announce that the National League Trust in partnership with the Premier League and the Professional Footballers' Association is supporting our Saints Community Project for 2018/2019 with a grant offer of £11,779. Without their continued support this project would be unable to carry on into its fourth year.
Brackley Town FC has secured £11,779 funding from the National League Trust in partnership with the Premier League and the Professional Footballers' Association for its Saints Community Project programme. This is the fourth year running that the project has been generously supported with a grant from the trust. Started in September 2015, the Saints Community Project was set up to support people who may feel isolated and enable them to build a friendship network. Elderly Brackley residents, people with learning disabilities and those with mental health issues attend every Wednesday and the project is still growing.
Last year the project continued to go from strength to strength and was an extremely busy and eventful time for the project. Every Wednesday morning over 50 senior members of our community come along to the club and enjoy a cup of coffee and a natter with like-minded people with whom they have made friendships over the length of the project. The project is run by Kim Grantham and a group of kind volunteers, who serve the coffee and cake and also prepare a home-cooked lunch for those who want to have a bite to eat. Tesco supermarket in Brackley is a very strong partner for the project continuously offering produce and voluntary help at these morning sessions and for our themed events. Those that participate in the project have had great fun from coach trips to Millets Farm and Hatton Country Park, to partying on down to celebrate the club's FA Trophy success, being entertained by an in-house produced pantomime, to dancing and singing with Elvis or at the West End and not forgetting celebrating all the usual events such as Valentine’s Day, Easter and Christmas.
Our project also raises funds for other causes and charities. Last year we supported Children in Need and an orphanage in Uganda. What an eventful year…
In addition to funding from the National League Trust the project was successful with our Tesco Bags for Help application and secured funding of £2000 to purchase a TV and visual aids equipment to allow the project to enjoy themed days. January 2019 started with an exciting day of "New Year Racing" where the participants enjoyed horse racing using the equipment and there was also a pig race…
The project has made great partnerships with the community over the last year to include our local police, local Waitrose supermarket, Brackley Town Council, Bracken Leas Primary School, the School of Life, our football club fans’ group - the Brackley Massive - and the list goes on. Without our partners’ support by way of donations, funding and voluntary help this project could not be what it is now.
May the project continue to flourish and grow for many years to come.
