Brackley Town u16's final league game of the season was at home on the Souldern hill verses a Tamworth team that won 8-0 last week. Brackley however are on a great run of their own & on paper this was going to be a close contest. Brackley started the brightest early on with the Tamworth's keeper making 2 or 3 really good saves to keep the scores level. Tamworth came with a game plan which was to look for their big centre forward at every opportunity, playing from back to front with their direct football switching play quite effectively with Brackley dropping deeper & deeper to combat this. Spaces were now starting to open up in the midfield & it was Tamworth that seemed to be winning every second ball & dominating the midfield as if the tide had turned. Rhys Allen had to make 1 or 2 saves of his own to keep Brackley in it but on the whole Brackley's rear guard were holding their own with Lloyd Offord & Connor Brunton coping very well with the long ball but we needed to plug the hole in the midfield before Tamworth made us pay. HT 0-0

The HT team talk was to explain to the players what was happening & what we needed to do better in the 2nd half to combat Tamworths late dominance & the team were reshuffled. As if we had flicked a switch it was Brackley that dominated the 2nd half right from the kick off. Brackley got their reward when Robbie Heath finished off turning on the ball inside the box to drill home to give us the lead 1-0. Brackley should of made it 2-0 when Luca found himself with a great opportunity to slot home past the keeper but unfortunately this wasn't taken & chance had gone. Brackley however had their tails up & should of put the game to bed from a corner when Issac Locke rose the highest to nod back across the goal to an unmarked Brackley player who was inside the 6 yard box & the goal gaping only to head agonisingly over the bar. Two big chances missed & the score at 1-0 you had to wonder if Brackley would be made to pay for their missed chances. Tamworth had ridden their luck & were still in the game when the pendulum swung again & it was Tamworth that had a couple of chances but couldn't convert as Brackley stood firm. A mistake from a corner gave Tamworth the equaliser when our keeper came to punch but didn't connect well enough to get it clear & Tamworth made us pay to draw level 1-1 with 8 mins to go. Tempers flared as the game drew nearer to its conclusion with both sides competing for everything. The final kick of the game fell to Tamworth who could of nicked it but fortunately it was deflected for a corner. This would of been a hard pill to swallow as we certainly didn't deserve to lose the game  today but it just shows you if you dont take your chances the game is never over. Brackley's challenge to remain unbeaten to the end of the season continues & this will build confidence with our County Cup Final just over a month away on May 11th at Northampton Town Football Club K.O at 12.30pm.
