Brackley Town u16's travelled up the M5 full of confidence following a tremendous run of results to play Rochdale AFC
Academy on a   superb 3G surface. On arrival it was evident the scale of the pitch was wide & long. However it could suit us if we play in the way we know we can & if we use the ball to good effect. Again the message to the players was simple can we continue on the fantastic journey we are on & not get beat. Can we solve the problems we had last week & improve on our performances.
Brackley didn't let us down, we were rampant right from the start causing Rchdale all sorts of problems & asking questions of their defence. Brackley took an early lead through their dominance when awarded a corner. Issac Locke rose the highest to head home & score his first goal for the u16's. Luca soon made it 2-0 as Brackley carved their way through yet again to smash home from close range. Eniloa made it 3-0 with some clever individual play & Luca had a chance to put the game to bed to make it 4-0 inside 30mins but scuffed his shot only for the keeper to save with his legs. Rochdale had been limited to half chances but Brackley had given away silly fouls just outside the box & were nearly made to pay as Rhys Allen could only parry & Brackley somehow scrambled away to keep the score at 0-3 at HT.
Brackley defended a little deeper in the 2nd half not because they were told to but because they had the lead & didn't need to chase the game, it was Rochdale that used the ball well trying to open up us up with some good football but Brackley held firm showing them no way through. Brackley however were quick on the break & were causing Rochdale all sorts of problems with every attack we had. Good movement & some brilliant passing was a treat to watch at times but we couldn't just quite materialise our fantastic counter attacks into more goals as the final ball was just slightly over hit, our final touch just let us down or we just struck it wide of the post. Rochdale did get a goal back because they too had some great forward players & one player in particular that had caused use problems all game with his trickery. The defensive unit didn't press out quick enough to close the space as their tricky forward weaved this way & that before drilling low & hard into the bottom right hand corner 1-3. The game was played with speed & you could see the players were getting tired & with a little bit of shuffling Brackley coped really well coming away victorious with a superb team performance for everyone to saver. Well done lads you were excellent today & guess what the run continues
