Brackley Town vs Allscot AFC 6-1 MJPL 26/09/20
Report by Baylie -James Lyford
After a 5-0 win against Dudley Sports Juniors, we looked to extend our run of wins against a Allscot side who had a comfortable finish last season. The game started off sharply as Allscot won the coin toss for kick off, a long ball from the centre was collected by captain Dale Freeman. This saw an early chance arrive as we send an early attack with mass confusion around the Allscot defence and a back pass to the keeper saw Baylie-James Lyford take the ball away and be brought down for a penalty in the first minute. Dale Freeman then made his way from between the sticks to take the penalty which he smashed home with confidence, a first goal for the skipper this season.
A good start saw Brackley come alive moving the ball quickly through the midfield and create a few more opportunities, about ten mins in one attack saw Bradley Cheshire drive with the ball to pull one across for Baylie-James Lyford to get his first of the season. Brackley then kept with the high intensity of attacks to see Sam McConnell assist Bradley Cheshire who used some superb footwork to beat a couple defenders and slot the ball into the bottom corner with the outside of his boot. Swiftly after getting the third goal into the back of the net some good football from Joe Armand and Jake Maskell gave Bradley Cheshire the opportunity to grab a second goal which he did a powerful striker from the edge of the box into the bottom left hand corner impossible for the keeper to reach. Now 4-0 up Brackley had some good football on show with the ball being played around nicely, however a rare Allscot attack saw Lewis Campbell perform some heroics blocking the ball on the line with a sliding challenge. Half Time 4-0.
Second Half then kicked off with a Brackley start and after 5 mins Allscot pulled one back against the run of play with an effort high into the net from the edge of the box. Brackley didn’t let this effect the way they played and kept on going for goal and this soon found Tom Rowlinson make his way into the box and with good skill got himself a foul to make it the second penalty of the match for Brackley. Tom Rowlinson then stepped up to take the penalty and slotted it home to make it 3 goals in 2 games and now 5-1 Brackley, the goals didn’t stop there with Brackley out to score again. This happened when Devon Weldon slotted the ball between the defenders to Johnny White to cross the ball to his fellow winger Callum Hodgkins who struck the ball nicely on his left foot past the keeper and to make it 6-1.
This score sets the lads up nicely with some confidence and goals to play local rivals Banbury United next weekend away, we now sit 13th in the league. A promising start!
